GE: PM Lee announces PAP team for Ang Mo Kio GRC

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has announced the line-up for his team contesting in Ang Mo Kio Group Representation Constituency (GRC) for the upcoming General Election.

They include Mr Yeo Guat Kwang, Mr Inderjit Singh, Mr Seng Han Thong and new PAP candidates Ang Hin Kee and Dr Intan Azura Mokhtar.

Mr Lee announced this at a community event in Jalan Kayu on Sunday.

Incumbent MP for the constituency, Wee Siew Kim, also said he will not contest in the next General Election.

It was all rock and roll for Jimmy Eat World, when they were in Singapore to perform the Hard Rock Hotel’s Coliseum at Resort World Sentosa.

Railway stations' heritage conserved

 The Singapore government has announced it would be keeping both the Tajong Pagar Railway Station and the Bukit Timah Railway Station because of their deep historical significance and to protect physical reminders of the country's rich heritage.

The Preservation of Monuments Board (PMB) is gazetting the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station as a national monument, while the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) is gazetting the Bukit Timah Railway Station as a conserved building.

The prime ministers of Singapore and Malaysia had announced at their retreat on May 24 last year, that the Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) station would be relocated from Tanjong Pagar to the Woodlands

Canberra blocks ASX-SGX merger

Australian Treasurer Wayne Swan officially blocked on Friday the proposed merger of the Australian and Singapore stock exchanges, branding it a takeover that would damage national interests.

"Let's be clear here: this is not a merger. It's a takeover that would see Australia's financial sector become a subsidiary to a competitor in Asia," he said.

"It was a no-brainer that this deal is not in Australia's national interest."
