Blueberries keep fat at bay

SLIMMERS should start snacking on blueberries, as they slash the number of fat cells in the body by up to three-quarters, say scientists.
Researchers found the fruit can break down existing fat cells and prevent new ones from forming, making them a potentially powerful weapon in the fight against rising obesity.
Blueberries, which have already been lauded as a superfood for their ability to help prevent heart disease and Type-2 diabetes, contain high levels of polyphenols - groups of chemicals with potential health benefits.

Grammy Awards ceremony set for overhau


Changes are to be made to next year's Grammys, in what organisers say is the biggest overhaul in the 53-year history of the US music awards.
The number of categories will be reduced from 109 to 78 with many existing categories merged, while some will be dropped completely.
Each category must now start out with at least 40 contenders instead of 25.

Female pilot soars above gender barrier

On the ground, Brooke Castillo is a classical pianist, a rock band manager, an elite sportswoman and a teacher, but it is high in the sky where she truly excels.

Castillo is the Philippines' first female commercial jet captain, and from the cockpit of Cebu Pacific airline's Airbus A319s and A320s she says she has the best job in the world.
