Police arrests gang that threatened Zulqarnain

Police on Wednesday arrested a gang of eight bookmakers, which was allegedly involved in threatening Pakistan cricket team’s wicket keeper Zulqarnain Haider, DawnNews reported.
The city police also recovered a huge cache of ammunition, telephone sets and other suspicious objects from the suspects.

S. Lanka relent over IPL issue to avoid ‘embarrassing BCCI’

‘Pakistan, India plan for ODI series this year'

 India and Pakistan may play a three-match ODI series this year as the cricket boards of both countries are trying to find a window in their tight international schedule in the wake of the resumption of the bilateral peace process. 
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, who visited Mohali last month to watch the India-Pakistan World Cup semifinal, said the Boards of the two countries are holding negotiations for renewing cricket ties.

Cricket: Chennai launch IPL with close win

Chennai Super Kings pulled off a thrilling two-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in Friday's opening Indian Premier League Twenty20 match, watched by a capacity crowd and millions on television.

Chasing 154, Kolkata were cruising at 112-2 before losing five wickets for 35 runs to hand the defending champions a last-ball victory at the Chidambaram Stadium, which had hosted World Cup matches only a few days back.

Needing nine runs off the final over bowled by paceman Tim Southee, Kolkata could manage just six while losing one wicket.
