Gary Cao rages over leaked song, label suffers NT$12 million loss

TAIPEI: Taiwan-based Malaysian singer-songwriter Gary Cao is furious after "Isn't It Good", one of his new songs earmarked for his upcoming album was leaked recently, and appeared on the internet with someone else credited as its composer and lyricist, reported Taiwan media.

"Why is it that a song I have not released is already on the internet?! The song I wrote became someone else's?! Where is the problem!

"I am really furious, really furious, really furious!" Cao said
in a micro blog post on Thursday.

He has good reason to be upset.

The losses incurred by Cao's music label due to the leak is estimated to be about NT$12 million (S$500,000).

The leak has forced Cao's record label to destroy the partially completed master recording for the song and compose new music for it, before sending it to the US once more for post production work, greatly adding to the album's production costs.

This will severely delay Cao's new album, which was originally scheduled for release later this month, and adversely affect the many promotional deals he has which are directly linked to his new release.
