While Briefing on The Meeting with the President's Spokesman Farhatullah Babar said the Political Situation, With Particular Reference to The Post-election Senate Discussed During the Meeting.
The participants congratulated the Party Co-Chairman President Asif Ali Zardari and the party leadership that the PPP had become the largest party in the Senate.
He noted that the government of Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, has achieved the unique distinction of holding two consecutive elections of the Senate during his tenure despite the obstacles posed by opponents.
The meeting decided to use this advantage Party policy in the service of democracy and welfare of people in a sustained and systematic way.
The Chairman reported that the Party must establish a committee on how best to proceed with it.
The future direction of the President to the Parliament also discussed during the meeting. This would be the fifth direction, a row of the President to Parliament.
The meeting requested the Government to the relief effort should be provided for the common man in the next budget.
Federal Minister for Water and Power, Syed Naveed Qamar informed the meeting on the situation of energy and power in the country.
The meeting, said the shortage of loadshedding and power were serious problems affecting the people and called for greater efforts to overcome the energy crisis.
Federal Minister for Interior, Rehman Malik, Senator A. gave a talk on the general law and public order situation, including the situation in Balochistan and the Kohistan bus shooting incident.
She said the President also said he would meet with leaders of allied parties later tonight to discuss the situation after the elections of the Senate.
The meeting also expands on the issues after the Senate elections that were to be considered along with the heads of the allied parties tonight, Farhatullah Babar said.
The meeting, said the policy of reconciliation has given political dividends and strengthen the political forces in the country.
The meeting decided that in order to further strengthen the country's political forces, the Party will continue to implement the policy of reconciliation.
The meeting placed their confidence in the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani.
