Finance Minister Tharman in Washington for IMF and G20 meetings

Singapore's Finance Minister, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, will be in Washington from Thursday till Saturday to chair the 23rd Plenary Meeting of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC), held in connection with the Spring Meetings of the IMF and World Bank.

The meeting will discuss current economic challenges and the policy responses needed to ensure a sustained global recovery.

It will also discuss reforms to the international monetary system, including issues concerning the management of capital flows and strengthening of the IMF's role in bilateral and multilateral
surveillance.

Minister Tharman will also participate in the Group of 20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors' Meeting.

In addition, he will be speaking at the annual Bertelsmann Foundation-Financial Times conference on the April 14.
