UK army medic, Kylie Watson, receives Military Cross

UK army medic Kylie Watson has been awarded the Military Cross for her action in Afghanistan. The young medic put herself under risk when she offered treatment to an Afghan soldier.
Under heavy fire Kylie risked her life by treating the young Afghan soldier. She worked in an area of exposed ground for over 20 minutes.
L/Cpl Kylie Watson has joined a small band of heroes by being awarded this medal. It is thought there have only ever been three other female personnel to receive this medal. The Military Cross is regarded as the third highest award for gallantry.
Kylie has been described as an inspiration and it has been reported that she showed immense courage. L/Cpl Kylie hails from Ballymena, County Antrim, Ireland.
L/Cpl Kylie has shown offer acts of bravery under fire. Her citation stated: "Watson's immense courage, willingness to put her own life at risk and absolute bravery saved the life of one warrior and acted as an inspiration to her platoon and their Afghan National Army partners."
