Barbara Walters Retirement Plans for 2014

Barbara Walters is planning to retire in 2014 after more than five decades as a trailblazing television journalists. Someone who works closely with Walters says the plan is for her to retire in May 2014 after a series of special programs saluting her career. The person was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on Thursday on condition of anonymity.

Reuters is also reporting on Walters plans’, saying she will announce her retirement in the next few weeks.

“It was very much her decision. I think she will best explain it herself,” the source told Reuters.

Walters, 83, was hospitalized earlier this year after taking a fall in Washington and for a case of the chickenpox.

Walters was the first woman to anchor a network evening newscast and is known for her celebrity interviews.  She is also the creator and on of the hosts, on the very popular daytime show  “The View”.

I am sad to see her go!!  Do you think she will get a condo in Florida following her retirement??
