Kevin Cheng not in "Scarlet Heart" sequel

Hong Kong actor Kevin Cheng shot to fame in China after playing a prince in the 2011 hit Chinese period drama "Scarlet Heart".
A sequel to the popular drama will go into production in March, but the 43-year-old actor recently revealed that he won't be a part of it, citing scheduling issues, reported Chinese media

"I am involved in another drama that will start shooting in February.

"There is nothing I can do about the clashing dates, it is a real pity," said Cheng, during a promotional event in China.

However, Cheng expressed that
he is confident "Scarlet Heart 2" will be just as good as its predecessor, because his "Scarlet Heart" co-stars Nicky Wu and Cecilia Liu will be returning in the sequel.

"Scarlet Heart" revolves around Zhang Xiao (Liu), who wakes up in the body of a young noblewoman in the Qing Dynasty after getting involved in a car accident, and becomes embroiled in a power struggle among a few princes who covet the throne.

The drama not only helped Cheng make a name for himself in China, but also revived the flagging career of Wu, who had gradually faded from the spotlight in the late 90s.
