Board elections in Iran opend

Polls have opened in the parliamentary elections in Iran s, the first important vote since the disputed reelection of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in June 2009 and the massive protests and repression that followed.
About 47,000 polling stations across Iran Iran take the ballots of 290 MPs, a vote seen as a political battleground for the conservative factions in the absence of the main reformist parties, which were driven from power in the 2009 post-election unrest. Over 48 million Iranians are eligible to vote.

The high turnout in the vote is seen as a major impetus for the system of government in Iran.
