Singapore's 'royal couples'

Prince William and Kate Middleton are not the only couple to wed on April 29.

A check with the Registry of Marriages (ROM) shows there are 60 solemnisations set to take place in Singapore on the same day.

Three couples who will share their wedding day with the royals share their sentiments.

"It was a pleasant surprise to hear we're getting married on the same day as the royal couple.

The date was selected by our religious

master last October after calculating our stars. And, it's happy knowing that the date is as auspicious as it is to us, as to the royal family.

Even if we didn't decide on this date, we may still have chosen April 29 just to feel "royal".

Everyone who received the invitation jokingly asked if there is an air ticket to London included."

"The date was actually given by a fortune teller. It's not a good day for most Chinese as - according to the Chinese calendar - the month coincides with Qing Ming festival (tomb sweeping festival).

But he told us it's the best date for us based on our birth dates and times.

With the royal wedding also taking place on the same day, we feel it must be a great date then!

We may have live screening of the royal wedding at ours."
Joanne Pang, 26, Chaplain & Sherwin Goh, 27, Doctor

"We were surprised to hear that of all days, our wedding is on the same day as the royal couple's.

Initially, we didn't think much of it. Now that it's closer to the date and with a lot of hype about their wedding in the media, it has helped create a nice atmosphere for us too."
