Japan needs shelter

The United Nations' World Food Program has delivered $2 million worth of aid to Japan to help deal with the triple blow of earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis.

Still, the agency says Japan still needs much more temporary shelter, sanitation help and health equipment

The WFP has already sent include mobile warehouses, biscuits, generators and prefabricated living quarters.

Deputy executive director Amir Mahmoud Abdulla says the WFP is also working with the World Health Organization to curb any outbreak of diseases.

He said Thursday that the agency's first Asian disaster response hub in Malaysia will be completed by December. It is currently operating out of temporary premises in the country and can quickly respond to future requests from Japan.
