China to foster cooperation with ASEAN
In a policy speech on the last day of a three-day visit to Indonesia, the current chair of ASEAN and its biggest member, Wen extolled the virtues of an ASEAN-China free trade agreement (FTA) that came into effect in January.

Nintendo said Monday it would release a new console next year to succeed its popular Wii, as it reported earnings slumped due to the strong yen and its 3D handheld player came too late to give a lift.The video game giant said the new machine would be showcased at E3 Expo in Los Angeles in June. The move comes as Nintendo has struggled to reverse its sliding fortunes in an increasingly crowded market.

Fed Reserve approaches crossroads as growth slows
The central bank's top policy panel will convene in Washington on Tuesday and Wednesday to decide if the recovery can make-do with less Fed help.

Actor James Franco seeks Ph.D. in Houston
James Franco has won a spot in a University of Houston creative writing program.
The university confirms that the actor nominated for the 2010 Academy Award for best actor in ”127 Hours” has been accepted for the school’s doctoral program in literature and creative writing. Creative writing program director James Kastely tells the Houston Chronicle that Franco plans to enroll in September 2012.
